English Grammar Reference: The Future Continuous

We use the present continuous to talk about an exact moment in the present, that is now (I am writing); we use the past continuous to talk about an exact moment in the past (I was sleeping at 6 o'clock this morning), we use the future continuous to talk about an exact moment in the future.

I will be having dinner at 7 o'clock this evening.

will be having dinner

Present

Future

The fact that we are using a continuous tense means that the action is long and will probably start before the specified time and finish some time after.

As with the past continuous we don't have to say the time if we specify the moment with another action.

I will be having dinner when you arrive.

will be having dinner
