About this site

One World of English is a site by David Tomkinson, founder and director of One World, a language school in Cagliari, Sardinia.

The goal of One World of English is to help you to learn English using things which you see and hear every day. I believe that if you like something you will learn from it more easily and more enthusiastically.

For example, if you like the song “Blowin’ in the wind” and you see the words “How many roads must a man walk down” and you remember that when there is an “s” at the end of the next word we say “how many” and when there is no “s” we say “how much”, you will probably remember it better than if you read a grammar book.

This is the idea behind the site: introducing you to what I believe to be the best songs, films, television and writings the English language has to offer and learning from them. In the words of the Boss, “We learned more from a three minute record baby than we ever learned in school”.

And if you want to do an online course…

One World Online School has complete video courses divided into 2 modules for every grammar level from elementary to upper intermediate. Each course has 15 videos, downloadable audio files, printouts, exercises and a final certificate. Take a look at it here.
